Photo I took in Banff, Canada in 2007
Living in Canada, I’ve had many SubhanAllah moments when seeing Allah’s manificient creations around me. I was lucky enough to see a black bear with her cubs in Banff in 2007. My wife and I stumbled upon them when we accidentally took a wrong mountain road. I snapped some pictures (from the safety of my car).
SubhanAllah or Glory be to God, for giving us the opportunity to see that.
As Muslims, nature documentaries can also give us that same sense of awe and wonder of the Glory that God has created in our beautiful world. There are many great documentaries that have been made. Recently, some deserve special mention for their SubhanAllah-ness.
Here are the top 5 nature documentaries that will make you go SubhanAllah!
5. Life in the Undergrowth

How can insects make you remember Allah? Well, the footage in here will.
This documentary is all about insects and lovely little critters you find underneath a dead log. Its fascinating to see how intricate and unique God has made each insect in this documentary series.
I especially enjoyed the spider segment and watching a giant centipede catch bats (!) SubhanAllah!

BBC is known for their exceptional nature documentaries and this series continues the tradition. Obviously, this video focuses on mammals.
From lions to tigers to sea mammals and everything in between. Many SubhanAllah moments to be had!

3. Winged Migration

Ever wonder what it is like to fly like a bird? Besides asking Allah to grant you a miracle, this documentary is as close to it as you can get. The film makers had actually developed a bond with baby birds so they wouldn’t be afraid of them when they flew as adults.
The film crew then travelled with these birds as they migrated across vast areas of land. The cinematography and scenery is why this documentary is on the list.
SubhanAllah, may God make us balanced human beings like the way these birds balance on each wing.

2. Blue Planet

The ultimate documentary on everything in our waters. Since 70% of our earth is covered in ocean, there is much beauty that Allah has hidden in it.
What you will see in these videos will blow you away! From open ocean feeding frenzies to alien-like creatures in the deep blue to cute penguins waddling, this series will surely make you go SubhanAllah!
One of my favorite moments is the rare footage of the blue whale. It is the largest animal to have lived on our planet (I’m guessing this is probably the whale that had swallowed up Prophet Yunus (alsm) ). AllahuAkbar!
1. Planet Earth

We have come to the best documentary that will make you go SubhanAllah. There is nothing better. Period.
This video series will take you across earth showcasing the best (and rarest) scenes of wildlife and landscapes you have ever seen. I guarantee you will be amazed. I guarantee you will feel Allah’s Magnificence after watching this!
There are too many memorable moments to list so I’m including the trailer below for your enjoyment. Glory be to Allah for the beauty He has created all around us!

There is another BBC documentary out called Nature’s Great Events, similar to Planet Earth and Blue Planet.
Also if you can these shows are immensely better in HD.
Salam Nawaz,
Thanks for your comments. InshAllah, I’ll look into Nature’s Great Events.
Yes, HD is much better
Hi.
This is a very nice blog. I liked it and it gave me three other different programs to watch other than Planet Earth and the Blue Planet.
As Nawaz has said, there is this one program called Nature’s Great Events again narrated by Sir David Attenborough. The program tracks down year round specialties of different places in the world, in a series of 6 episodes only. They are available in HD 720p. Amazing series!!
Hail Nature for these beauties.
Cheers!
First thing.. if u watch this kinda Documentaires, they were made by scientists and none of them believes in any type of god or something so stop insulting the makers of this films.
Especialy Sir lord david attenborough. Grow up/ Wake up there is no greater kind of life form here. Its an hoax too give humanity a cause.
Hey Darwin,
Its left for people to believe whether these are creations of God or not. So different people have different perceptions. And none of the scientists would have told you that they don’t believe in God.
When the program is called Nature’s Great Events, Nature is nothing but God.
And no one is insulting the makers of this film, instead we are very grateful to all of them for providing us with fantastic documentaries like these. We all respect Sir David Attenborough and I personally think that Sir is the luckiest person on Earth to have witnessed such stupendous miracles of Nature all round the world.
Cheers!
And I also think that this discussion would take a turn into being a ‘Do you believe in God?’ one. So it is better we focus more on the actual cause of why this blog was put up and comment about the same.
Hi there,
was looking for other programmes to watch as I love documentaries. I’m not religious in any form but I thank you for letting me know about other programmes that I have not seen. The grandeur of nature and the world around us often makes me wonder how it all came about. I have no questions to that, but it is nice to see the amazing sights that are there around us.
